Letters from the Front to Lavenham 1915-1918on Friday 12th October 2007 in Lavenham Guildhall at 7.30 pmAn illustrated presentation of the letters of Captain Hubert Wolton of the 5th Suffolks, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of his winning the Military Cross in 1917 by Chris Lamb and Robert Benton of the Quay Theatre, Sudbury, by kind permission of the Captain's son, John Wolton. With background information about the men from Lavenham and West Suffolk who voluntarily went to fight in The Great War. It covers all aspects of their lives - family, humour, general interest as well as the inevitable sadness! The letters are backed up with historical facts concerning the events happening at that time and about the people involved.
